With black and white photography the frame is filled with timeless prints that awaken a feeling of melancholic nostalgia, and evoke a sense of longing for a distant adventure. The smoky textures, cloudy skies, and misty shadows of daybreak captivate the viewer and allow them to effortlessly access their imagination. Taken together, the images collectively represent the immense beauty and complexity of the natural world and offer a portal to the collective unconscious.I believe that sometimes black and white photography can often elicit a stronger response than color. I first started shooting black and white film in the late 1960s when I was in the US Navy. A black and white image can feel very textural thus allowing the viewer a greater sense of walking into the image.
